Abstract EN

This study aimed to analyze competition in the insurance industry in Algeria by applying the model of competition dynamics by Michael Porter, and knowing the extent of the discrepancy in the relative importance between these forces.

To achieve this objective, the study used data on insurance companies in Algeria published in the annual reports of the Insurance Supervision, in addition to using the Herfindahl Hirschman Industrial Concentration Index to measure the intensity of competition between insurance companies in Algeria.

The study found that the insurance industry in Algeria is characterized by the structure of the oligopoly market, in addition to the fact that the strength of the new entrants is the biggest threat to the insurance industry in Algeria, in contrast, the rest of the forces remain of a relatively weak influence.
