تعتبر الطاقات المتجددة جوهر التنمية المستدامة، لأنها تشكل إحدى الدعائم الضرورية و الأساسية التي تتوقف عليها العديد من الجوانب الحياتية للإنسان، لذلك لا بد من ضمان استدامتها بالقدر الكافي الذي يضمن تلبية حاجياته الحالية و الحاجيات المستقبلية على نحو متوازن، محققا بذلك أهم أبعاد التنمية المستدامة الاقتصادية و الاجتماعية إضافة إلى البعد البيئي لها
