The philosophy of sustainable development is based on achieving sustainability, by meeting the needs of the present without compromising the rights of future generations.

The latter took a large part in the global discussions related to environment and development, from the Portland conference until the 2012 Johannesburg conference, It is an integral head item of the agenda of the international conferences and agreements emanating from it, the latest of which is the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

In light of the link between the right to a clean environment and the right to sustainable development, the latter plays a major role in reducing the globalization of environmental risks and mitigating their negative effects.
