The topic deals with the path of modernity, globalization and sustainable development, On the grounds that modernity as a belief system based on deterministic singularity has led to serious failures, Especially on the economic and social level, And the resulting devastation at the environmental level, which led to the emergence of currents described as alternatives to the postmodern model.

However, globalization did not amount to that reformist path to the rift caused by the modernist model, as much as it destroyed the main foundations on which modernity was built, beginning with the nation-state component, And if the common denominator between modernity and globalization is liberal capitalism as an economic system that is more deadly to the environment, The difference between them is that globalization has jumped over the national borders, transferring this system from the stage of nationalism to transnationalism, And thus transferring the causes of partial ruin to total ruin by lifting all forms of barriers to the mechanisms and actors of the capitalist system.

On the other hand, the vision of sustainable development seems more reasonable as an alternative reformist model for postmodernism, Because it stems from interconnected premises with the failures of modernity and treats its consequences and put forward the idea of environmental equilibrium as a determinant of economy and growth, And by defining the path of globalization and sustainable development, the signs of contradiction in the justified intellectual debate for both currents appear.
