Summary: The objective of this paper is to shed light on the situation of humanitarian security in Libya before and after Gaddafi's ruling, and to determine the reasons of neglecting this important variable.

The research adopts several approaches, such as the analytical descriptive approach the case study, as well as the critical approach to security studies, in order to probe the depths of the Libyan political situation in dealing with humanitarian security.

The research proposes with several findings, and concludes that the former Libyan regime did not care about humanitarian security and its dimensions as much as it focused on the state security.

What happened in Libya in 2011 has allowed the international humanitarian intervention under the pretext of protecting humanitarian security.
