The phenomenon of urban growth was remarkable in the history of Algeria from colonialism to the present day through the different periods that marks its history especially the last fifty years of the last century.

Our study focuses on the phenomenon of urban growth being the most striking aspect of social change in Algeria by highlighting the factors and stages of urban growth in Algeria as well as the detection of different, effects and challenges of the Algerian city.
