Employing rhetorical devices in explicating narrative texts is considered as an important research field scholars give much shrifts to.

It is tackled from various vantage points in the contemporary Arabic criticism, they focus on rhetorical details and aesthetic issues, as done in the Arabic poetry.

So it is time to apply such a trend to fiction, novel.

That is why the current research study exploit the most essential reference in such a field in the Western literature; The Image in Modern French Novel of Stephen Ullmann and Observation and Symbol of Henri Mitterand come to the fore as model to explicate.
