Abstract EN

The research aims to highlight the unemployment and employment phenomenon and track their evolution throughout the history of Algeria after independence, which allows understanding the structure of the phenomenon studied and analysis the different factors that have led to the current situation; It has been found that the transition from illiteracy unemployment that prevailed in the seventies and eighties to the actual graduate unemployment is a result of the social vision which characterized the state policies implementations against the unemployment phenomenon.

Moreover, the results showed that the reforms and the restructure of Algerian economy had a significant effect on this transition.

Finally, it is important to mention that the reliance on oil rents in spending on employment has always been effected by factors that cannot be controlled, that is why unemployment and employment rates are always related to oil prices swings in the global markets.
