Abstract AR
Abstract EN
In the East, disputes about entitlement to the caliphate appeared at an early period in Islamic history.
The members of the prophet's family and their descendants; Hussein bin Ali, Zaid bin Ali and Yahya bin Zaid, were the most prominent of those who believed that they were most entitled to it.
Despite their several attempts to claim the caliphate, they were all unsuccessful.
However, the Abbasids were able to achieve the goal of reaching it when they came.
Unlike in the East, there were no attempts to claim the caliphate by the men of Al-al-Bayt in the Maghreb.
However, in the mid of the second century of the Hijra, a barbarian man by the name Shaqna bin Abd al-Wahid claimed the noble lineage to Hassan Bin Ali, and he carried out a military movement against Abd al-Rahman al Dakhil in Andalusia, which lasted about ten years.
The in-hand study sheds light on this military movement, and therefore the following questions are raised: Who was this man? What were the circumstances in which his revolution was established? What was the effect of claiming noble lineage on its temporary success? How did it affect political thought in the Maghreb? In the end, this study concludes that Shaqna took advantage of the prevailing circumstances in the best way, especially the Andalusians' attachment to the family of Al-al-Bayt.
For a period of ten years, Shaqna was able to get in the way of Al Dakhil's vision in resurrecting the glories of the Umayyads, but in the end he was killed and no one after him chose to follow his steps and adopt his quest
