Freedom in the context of Maqasid debateA study in the light of the methodology of comprehensive Shariah ObjectivesThis paper was an attempt to explore some aspects of the debates and controversies in Maqasid Al Shariah research in the past and present time.

Since freedom received considerable attention, it was presented as a topic which reflects the present debates of Maqasid thought.

Some considered freedom to be an important part of the structure of Islamic law and its Maqasid system but could not be classified within the five necessities.

Some others argue that freedom should be added to the five necessities as one of the essential values, that Shariah has called for it to be represented and nurtured, and one of the highly demanded human values of modern time.

In view of this, the elaborations focused on the main debates about freedom in the context of conceptual debate related to Maqasid necessities system, and whether the components of this system can be further developed according to the logic of science and methodology of shariah objectives construct.

the findings suggested that the value of freedom was placed within its appropriate framework by determining its area of interest in the Maqasid framework.
