Abstract EN

The study tackled the role of Non-Governmental organization (NOGs) in rural development and the settlement of refugees in White Nile State, which had been regarded as the largest Sudanese states that had been affected by refugees movement due to its closer to border with South Sudan State.

The study aimed at explaining the role of national and international NGOs in the development and the settlement of refugees in the state to reach specific findings to contribute in correct decision making towards the working of those NGOs.

The study tried to answer a key question which is: does NGOs contribute in achieving rural development and refugees resettlement in White Nile State? To answer this question, the study used the questionnaire tool for a sample of refugees, besides interviews with concerned officials.

The study has reached to several findings, the most important of which indicated that the NGOs have contributed in refugees resettlement, and provision of basic needs for them in White Nile State.

The main recommendations of the study calls for the necessity of promoting the voluntary works through capacity building programs for employees who worked in this field, besides adoption of participatory approach in refugees resettlement and development programs in the state to achieve the best levels of resettlement and development for those employees.
