Abstract EN

This study aims to determine the role of e-payment in reducing cash liquidity crisis in Algeria, especially during Corona pandemic, as Algeria is experiencing during this pandemic a liquidity crisis in banking agencies and post offices in particular.

The study reached a set of results, the most important, is that the delay in genaralization of e-payment in Algeria, and the increase in demand of tangible money, are the most important factors causing the cash liquidity crisis, and that e-payment is a solution to reduce demand of cash, because payment operations are made electronically without the need of money, which may carry the virus, and also it contributes to reduce movement and contact between individuals, which reduces the risk of infection with the virus
