Handcrafts and occupations were the most salient appearance which characterized the city of Tlemcen during the medieval period like the other Muslim cities at the same time, the textile industry its associated handrcraft activities represented an important aspect within the urban fabric during the period of zianides, For the population on the one hand, and for the central authority on the other, this industry was able to thrive and respond to the requirements of many broad categories of society, this is in view of the several different considerations, such as the availability of the raw materials and the benefit from foreign expertise (especially Andalusian), in addition to the central activity of the city in trade exchanges, which made the hand craftsmen in Tlemcen take into their account some elements such as quality, perfection, luxury as many requirements required by the textile industry during this period.

On this basis, the textile industry in Tlemcen, the city of Zianides, was on of the most important occupation that attracted a large number of labours including men and women, and made the city very famous in a large number of Muslim cities, the textiles of Tlemcen have the confidence of a special class in which they found a model of splendor and elegance.

Therefor, it can be said that the textile industry in Tlemcen, the city of Zianides, was the most salient title of the handcrafts and occupation in the city during the intermediate period
