Islamic civilization has contributed to history through various means and left its mark in.

Manuscripts are, notably, the most prominent ones which are rightly considered as memory of the nation and its scientific heritage, which must be taken care of, preserved and benefited from by making investigating on, indexing and publishing it.

Due to the importance of manuscrits' indexing process in establishing heritage realization system, I would like to expose a book which deals with a significant aspect of indexing that recovered successively on Algerian manuscript.

The book, entitled "Indexing Industry in Algeria", from 1245 Hidjri /1830 AD to 1410 Hidjri /2010 AD, written by Dr.

Abdelkarim Oufi, one of the comtemporary Algerian researchers who have left their mark on manuscripts science.

The book is a scientific, descriptive and corrective attempt, in which the author has involved in manuscripts indexing industry in Algeria, for more than a century and a half, through a series of scientific resarches which he carried out over more than a decade.

This series reveals aspects of the manuscript's status and the stages that indexing has gone through public libraries, private libraries and specialized scientific centres.

It includes the sum production produced by Algerians and orientalists since the French occupation to Algeria until the present day, shows the followed methods and the obstacles that hinder the indexing process.
