Abstract EN

The southwestern region of Algeria at the beginning of the 11th century, has known the conflict between two personalities: Abd al-Qadir al-Samahi, known as "Sadi al-Sheikh", and the jurist Ahmed bin Abi Mahli.

, and, the jurist Ahmed bin Abi Mahli Al-Sijlmassi, who contacted Al-Samahi and had a friendly relationship with him, but soon became tense by accusing him of staying away from the Sunnah, and this issue occupied the public and scholars were divided between supporting Ibn Abi Mahli and standing by Al-Samahi.

This research aims to clarify the relationship between the two men, and how it turned from friendship to enmity, and to deduce the repercussions of the conflict on the image of the two men in the writings of historians and the opinions of some scholars, by relying on the works of Ibn Abi Mahli, and using the historical method that is based on description, analysis and conclusion.
