Abstract EN

Algeria is a country rich in traditions, local and national, Islamic and pre-Islamic.

Over the centuries, some practices have been developed.

Beyond the universal precepts of Islam, this country has known how to protect its local traditions and adapting them to the contemporary needs.

“Rakb Sidi Chaykh” is a festival which brings together, in the sacred city of al-Bayadh, in the zaouïa of Sidi Chaykh, the founder of the Chaykhiya, series of religious, social, economic and festive practices.

This mystical meeting which takes place for three days, around the last week of June or the first week of July, transform this piece of desert into a real trade fair.

Nomadic and sedentary communities from all the country and neighboring countries from Africa, make the trip to give homage to the founder of the tariqa and to renew links between followers.
