Abstract EN

There is no doubt that historical events in any country contribute to enriching literature in general - and in particular the realistic novel - providing it with topics and methods that help it in reflect that reality with its social and psychological manifestations.

From this principle, we present a research paper in which we deal with a comparative study of: an international Spanish novel written by Camilo Jose Cela, The Family of Pascual Duarte (1942) and the novel The Bare alone of Muhammad Shukri (1972), which has been translated into 39 languages.

To what extent have each of the two writers been able to monitor the atrocity of the bitter reality: the Spanish Civil War and the era of dictator Franco for Camilo José Cela, and the Franco-Spanish colonization of Morocco for Mohamed Choukri? Where do parallels lie in these two literary works?
