Abstract EN

The new role of universities in general studies the relationship of university with its non-academic community through its three dimensions: “continuous education”, “innovation and technology transfer” and “community participation”.

The success of embodying this role requires the mobilization of huge financial resources in which all the actors in society participate.

This paper treats the problem of the role of the family sector and the business sector as central actors in financing the new role of the university in Algeria, especially in its part related to the second dimension of this role (innovation).

By providing a reading on the importance of both the family and business sectors in financing this dimension.

This study concluded the limited role of the family sector and the business sector in financing the second dimension of the new role of the universities in Algeria, and gave a set of recommendations.
