Talking about anthropology in Algeria does not mean talking about anthropology as a science in itself, although Algeria is one of its fertile fields.

The reality of anthropology as a discipline has not reached the required level despite the remarkable transformation it has undergone in the recent period, especially after its recognition by political decision makers, and after an attempt to clear its name of being a science of primitive societies, or a science without a subject, or that it is a science that serves colonial ideology.

However, talking about an anthropology in Algeria, after more than six decades of independence, is in essence a talk about an anthropology that can exist and does not actually exist.

It moves in Algeria from the status of an anthropological subject to an Algeria that contributes to anthropological production, by Algerian anthropologists and constituents in Algeria.
