Food grinding is considered as one of the most important nutritive industries, and for that reason the human being used since long time ago the power of the falling water.

To move the millstone to grind the grains and thus making wheat and barley and other nutritive materials that should be made.

Due to the importance of this production, each city or village have got its own grinding stations.

There were many kinds of mills including manual ones that's use a wheel which moved by animals, and windmill that's principally use the wind forces beside watermills which are the main subject of our studies.

Watermills are mainly established on the river banks to take the necessary energy from its water course or from an artificial water course which should be made essentially to feed it.

Tlemcen city like all other Islamic cities has contained many watermills at that time
