The aim of this article is to provide an analytical socio-anthropological reading of the relationship of the the “Souk” to the identity of society.

The market has since ancient times contributed directly or indirectly to the preservation of the cultural heritage of the societies.

Therefore, in this article we must highlight the extent of the role that the Souk, plays in consolidating the values of Identity among Algerian society by asking the following problem: How did the Souk contribute to the consolidation of the identity values of the Algerian society, in the past and the present?
