Several recent studies establish that the prices of crude oil and natural gas are cointegrated.
Yet sometimes in the past many voices have noted that the two sets of awards appear to have "decoupled".
This article explores the cointegration relationship between the prices of natural gas (HH) and crude oil (WTI) in the United State, using econometric models (VAR, VECM) during the period from January 1997 to September 2020, which is experiencing several structural ruptures.
The production of natural gas has recorded strong growth attributable to shale gas which depends more on liquid than on dry gas, the prices of which are strongly linked to the prices of crude oil, it is therefore possible to draw inspiration from the American experience in order to, to study the impact of shale gas for producing countries in general and Algeria in particular.

Plusieurs études récentes établissent que les prix du pétrole brut et du gaz naturel sont cointégrées.
Pourtant, parfois, dans le passé, de nombreuses voix ont noté que les deux séries de prix semblent avoir « découplés ».
Cet article explore la relation de cointégration entre les prix du gaz naturel (HH) et celui du pétrole brut (WTI) aux Etats Unis, en utilisant les modèles économétriques (VAR, VECM) durant la période allant du Janvier 1997 jusqu'au Septembre 2020, qui connaisse plusieurs ruptures structurelles.
La production du gaz naturel a enregistré une forte croissance imputable au gaz de schiste qui dépend plus de liquide que du gaz sec, dont les prix sont fortement liés aux prix du pétrole brut.
Il est donc possible de s'inspirer de l'expérience Américaine afin d'étudier l'impact du gaz de schiste pour les pays producteurs en général et l'Algérie en particulier.
