Abstract EN

This research paper aims to conduct a statistical study of the smuggling phenomenon in the Algerian society based on official statistics, through which we try to uncover factors that help its spread, whether it is social, economic, or related to the demographic characteristics of the smugglers arrested by institutions legally authorized to combat this phenomenon.

Also we will try to present the geographical distribution of the phenomenon to determine the places that record the highest level of smuggling operations that cost the state treasury huge sums, given that the materials that are smuggled outside the country are subsidized materials destined for local consumption on the one hand and on the other hand, smugglers do not pay tax dues, And this is why the smuggling is a real drain on the public treasury.
