Abstract EN

Before addressing the issue of synonyms in the Quran and their translation, we have first to highlight viewpoints pertaining to the synonymy fact in the Holy Quran.

In fact, the Quran's structure determines always the way synonyms may be translated because it endows words with further meanings that an ordinary reader cannot understand easily.

In this study, we will analyze the translation of a number of verses which contain synonyms with very similar meanings and connotations.

Besides, we will endeavor to define the meaning of each word by referring to the most credible exegesis and famous dictionaries in the sake of showing semantic differences between them and coming to grips with incomprehension and mistranslation.
