The phonetic Interpretation of the Vocative 1.The singular vocative is desinentially inflective.

It is in the nominative case from which nunnation, is ellipted for easy articulation.

2.”Ayyuha” (you) in (ya, ayyuha) (O, you) is a desinentially uninflected suffix used in the vocative with no definite article.

It is used to lengthen articulation.

3.If the word after (ya, ayyuha) is defective, it is then in the vocative.

Ifit is derived, it is an attribute of an ellipted modified head.

4.The marker (vowel) ofthe vocative is intepreted according to (waqf) / (pause): It is either (waqf) with a sukuun as in (ya, zayd) and (ya, rajul) or (waqf) with (alif) if it is indefinite as in (ya, rakiba) and (ya, ghafila) conidering its distance from the vocative and its likeness to it.

5.It is possible to relate the vocative to its subordinate in ccordance with the (subordination) phenomenon.

They could be both in the nominative case by relating the second to the first or in the accusative by relating the fiistto the second.
