Abstract EN

The present research aims at knowing the efficiency of practical maps teaching subject in acquiring some geographical skills for the students of Department of Geography, College of Education.

The study sample included (35) male and female of the first class.

Department of Geography for the year 2002-2003.they students were chosen from the community of the research that included (62) students.

To achieve the goal of research, the two researchers prepared a test for the geographical skills in its final from consisting of (16) items distributed into three questions so as to measure (6) geographical skills.

The test was applied at the beginning of first course it has been regarded as near test .at the end the first course, the test was applied again and it was regarded as a remote one.

The data were analyzed and treated statistically .the two researchers reached to the fact that there were differences of statistic references between the students marks average for the near and remote tests in acquiring some geographical skills.

There was also a difference of statistic reference between the stunts marks average and the hypothetical criteria is 70% from the total degree.
