Abstract EN

The research subject which is entitled “Geometrical Ornamentation on present Archaeological Building” is regarded as one ofthe subjects which have covered in the past by the authors and specialized people in architecture and Islamic ornamentation arts in an independent and individualized manners.

This research is important due to the presence of many ornamentation patterns represented by geometrical units and elements (irregular, spiral, oblique, tight, intercepted reticulate lines, polygonal, penta and hexa and octa hedral shapes, star, octa and tenth shapes, in addition to simple geometrical shapes and adjacent circular shapes, beads and arcs).

These go back to local ornamentation patterns in Mcsopota؛nia where it belongs to period prehistory and their development in the Summerian, Akadian, Assyrian, Babylonian and Keldania states where they have reach their climax.

This study did its best in studying and analyzing the specialized ornamentation patterns which are contained in the geometrical units executed on the architectural elements and the archaeological remnants which till survive in Mosul city after reaching all the archaeological buildings and giving their locations and belongings after the analysis, unloading and imaging them which took place after a general survey and filed study of all Mosul districts and its old quarters.

in this study, geometrical ornamentation patterns which belong 12 th century after Hijra and executed on Islamic ftat mihrabmadeof marble are explored.

Also, tin's research has explored many sculpture and geometrical ornamentation executed on many of the architectural elements and archeological remnants.
