The first violation of rights during wars is the right to life where killings are practised on a large scale, which prompted the international community to adopt many binding legal rules that protect this right, and in Algeria the French violated all the legal rules regulating war operations and committed major massacres.
Murder was a prominent feature of their presence in Algeria, and the number of one and a half million martyrs during the liberation revolution was only a tiny number compared to the real number of victims.

Le droit à la vie est l’un des premiers droits bafoués pendant la guerre où les crimes sont perpétués à grande envergure, ce qui a poussé la communauté international à adopter plusieurs fondements juridiques pour préserver le droit à la vie, en Algérie.
Les Français avaient violé tous les fondements juridiques régissant les hostilités, commettant des massacres majeurs, où les crimes caractérisaient leur présence en Algérie, cependant le chiffre d'un million et demi de martyrs n’est qu’un nombre dérisoire comparé au nombre réel de victimes.
