This model aims to answer the following questions: What is the effect of “Group investigation” on mathematical thought among the students of the second class in the Teachers Training Institute for Girls-Ninevah.
What is the effect of “Group investigation” on acquiring of the students of the second class in the Teachers Training Institute for Girls-Ninevah.
The researcher has chosen “The Research Sample” haphazardly among the students of the second class in the Teachers Training Institute for Girls-Ninevah.
The number of the chosen students was (44) divided into two groups.
22 students were a group taught by the style of “Group Investigation” and the other 22 students were in a group taught by the ordinary style (or the traditional method) and this is called the controlled group.
The researcher has used two tools for measuring.
The first is an available instrument used for measuring mathematical thinking which has been produced by Shatnawy and Abu-Zeina and then developed by AduAl- Huda 1985.
The instrument measures six fields in mathematical thinking and they are (Inducting, Generalization, Deducting, Symbolizing, Logical ' Thinking and Mathematical Proof).
The second tool is Acquiring Test laid by the researcher and this teaching lasted about (14) weeks.
After using the two researching tools and discussing the results statistically by using T-test, the results have been as follows: I-There wasn’t any active effect of using “Group Investigation” on mathematical thinking and this was due to the short time used for practicing this method as constructing mathematical knowledge has been overloading as the researcher has alluded.
2-Group Investigation has proved to have an effect on acquiring and that is because this sample deals greatly with the student’s activities and her enquiries about the mathematical problem given to her among the social group including her.
The researching has acquired many recommendations among which is the possibility of using the sample of “Group Investigation” in teaching mathematics in the Teachers Training Institutes for girls and boys and the necessity of providing democratical circumstances inside the class to encourage students to think by themselves in any way like without any tension.
