Abstract EN

The Study of artistic activity is a part ofthe history of man and his culture which consequently contributes to give an idea ofthe extent of his progress and experiences in different fields oflife.

In fact, the arts of ornamentation were known by the ancient Iraqi's, especially the Assyrians including plant ornamentation in which the Assyrian artist inspired its elements from nature.

These ornamentations are likely to be the fundamentals of many ornamental units and elements known by the other ancient peoples like the sacred tree "tree of life", palmetto, the rosette, grape leaf, pomegranate fruit, and pine cone.

The Assyrians used these ornamentations as a decorative beautying element.

Furthermore, some of them had significantly symbolic relihious indications.
