Abstract EN

This study deals with modern techniques used in the application of hydrological models and the modalities to take advantage of these to determine the hydrological characteristics.

Relied on a variety of sources to create a geographic and Hydrologic database for Gomaspan basin, including) set of thematic maps with data on the natural environment of the basin، Digital elevation model (DEM) and satellite images taken from satellite (Land sat) for the year 2000(.

Used in this research program (Global Mapper V.7) to work with satellite imagery and digital elevation model.

It was also used program (WMS 7.1) Special hydrological functions which Deals with the Baths valleys in digital form.

In addition to the use of program (Arc Gis) version (9.3) for the work of digital thematic maps of the characteristics of the natural environment of the basin in the form of Shape file format.

Results that were reached through the application of hydrological models is to identify a set of ydrological characteristics of the Chishka and Sartka Sub- basin within the Gomspan basin Including (Morphological characteristics, the top of the discharge and characteristics according to the model HEC-1, Time to focus according to the model TR-55).

This study turned out that GIS is the best way to process and analyze digital data for the application of hydrological models and determine the hydrological characteristics of the basin.
