Abstract EN

The study aims to finding out the effect of cooperative learning strategy supported by power- point on scientific achievement and developing attitudes of ninth grade female students in Biology.

To achieve the aim of the study, the experimental design was chosen.

This design consists of experimental and controlled groups with achievement pre test and post test.

The sample was( 84) ninth grade female students in Bahra Intermediate School for the academic year 2010-2011.

The sample was divided into two groups equalized in age; intelligence; parents’ academic level and student’s marks in Physics, Chemists, and Biology of grade eight.

The experimental group used cooperative learning strategy supported by power- point and the controlled group used the traditional method.

To achieve the aims of the study two tools were built.

The first tool was an achievement test.( Bloom) cognitive domain was considered in designing the test (Knowledge, comprehension, application and analysis) according to its ratio in the table of specification.

validity was achieved by exposing the test to a jury of specialists.

Moreover, difficulty level and discrimination power of the test items were determind.

Test reliability was determined.The final version of the test consisted of( 57) items.

The second tool was a scale to measure students’ attitudes in Biology.

validity was achieved; discrimination power of scale items was deternid; and validity was achieved.The final version of the scale consisted of (32) items.

The experiment Takes 3 months, ,After the achievement of post- test was administere to both groups .

The data was analyzed statistically .The results revealed the following: There is a significant difference between the mean score of both groups in favor of the experimental; thus the null hypothesis is refsed.

There is a difference between the mean scores of both groups in the post test at knowledge, comprehension,and Application levels, thus the null hypothesis is refuted.

There is no significant difference between the mean scores of both groups in the post test at analysis level.

There is a significant difference between the mean scores of experimental and controlled groups in developing attitudes in Biology in favor of the experimental group.Then The researchers presented some suggestions and recommendations.
