Abstract EN

The current study aimed to identify the speech disorders of hearingimpaired children in Jeddah and their relationship to some variables, the study sample consisted of (55) children from grades (first, second, third, fourth, fifth, and sixth) who suffer from hearing impairment ranging from simple to severe, Where they were selected from government integration schools in the city of Jeddah.

In order to achieve the objectives of the study, a scale for speech disorders and a test for reading and writing skills were developed by the researcher.

The scale and test were applied to the current sample during the second semester of the academic year 2020-2021.

The results of the study showed that the most common speech disorder is substitution followed by distortion, and also showed statistically significant differences between speech disorder and reading level in hearing-impaired children, and also the presence of statistically significant differences between speech disorder and writing skills (expression), and the absence of statistically significant differences Between speech disorder and writing skills (general writing skills, dictation), the study also showed that there were statistically significant differences between speech disorders and the degree of hearing loss, and there were no significant differences between speech disorder and classroom The study came out with a number of recommendations, including : The need for constructive communication between the school and the family to achieve better development for children.

And activating the role of educational counseling for the family on the correct way to deal with phonetically disturbed children.

And increase the number of speech coaches in inclusion schools, in order to increase the number of sessions for each child.
