Abstract EN

Oud is the main musical instrument in the Arabic musical heritage, which has accompanied the musical movement in different musical cultures throughout history, and it has been the most prominent topic in many theoretical and historical resources.

This was evident using the Oud instrument as a theme in many historical scenes that reached us through various antiquities and historical manuscripts.

Despite the fact, there are many sources that dealt with these remnants and manuscripts within their chapters; they did not address the technical and industrial aspects of this instrument and which can be recognized in different antiquities and historical manuscripts.

In this study, we noted this problem, and therefore gathered all the sources that dealt with the remnants and manuscripts, which included the Oud in their themes or topics.

Next, all samples were subjected to a detailed analytical study of all the characteristics and features of this ancient instrument.

The analysis included the following factors : Oud making; Oud shape; number of strings and other artistic aspects of Oud.

Important results were achieved, that highlighted the statues of oud in the studied historical period, and the historical, logical and cultural relationship between community and oud.
