This study aims to highlight the impact of exchange rate changes on the Algerian balance of payments for the period (1980-2019), based on the NARDL.

The study found that there was no effect of changes in the exchange rate, with its positive and negative values, on the Algerian balance of payments, unlike oil prices, where it was found that there is an asymmetry in its positive negative shocks, as the balance of payments is affected only by negative shocks to oil prices in the long term and this is due to the nature of the rentier Algerian economy, The study also showed the existence of a long-term equilibrium relationship between the balance of payments and the independent variables
