Abstract EN

The research is a study of the two concepts of sheltering and sponsorship between the Qur'anic text and the Islamic narrative inheritance: an analytical study (Abu Talib's sheltering of the Prophet as a model), as it delves profoundly into the search for semantic and linguistic differences between “shelter” and “sponsorship”.

Then it shows the essence of each concept by analyzing the Qur'anic texts that dealt with the two, and following the two concepts in the Islamic inheritance comparing them according to the events to which they are related to.

The purpose behind such investigating is to reach the true meaning of Abu Talib's sheltering of the Prophet (may God bless him and his family and grant them peace).

The researcher is questioning: did sheltering happen according to their human nature, or was there a divine intervention in the subject of sheltering? As is marked from the obvious meaning of the Qur'anic verse, the act of sheltering was a source of glorifying God Almighty and the act was attributed to Him.

Besides, through the search, The researcher traced the relationship of the Prophet (peace and blessings of God be upon him and his family) with his uncle Abu Talib, is it a relationship of sheltering or sponsorship? Finally, the research resolved the conflict of the two concepts: the Qur'anic text and the Islamic narrative heritage.
