Abstract EN

The aim of this research is to determine the relationship between parenting styles (father's picture, mother's picture) and identity ego status among secondary school adolescents by using Canonical correlation analysis.

To achieve the aim of this research, two scales were adopted, one of which was to measure parenting styles that include four styles, and the other was to measure Ego identity status that includes four statuses.

The psychometric properties of the two scales were investigated, which are administrated among (280) male and female were selected from secondary school adolescents (fourth and fifth classes).

After processing the data statistically using the Canonical correlation, the research concluded that the two styles (Democratic, Excessive Protection(by fathers, were contributed positively correlated to the degree of Ego identity status of the (accomplished) among the students.

Similarly, the two styles (Authoritarian and Negligence) contributed positively correlated in the identity of ego (Foreclosure and Diffusion), and with regard mother, the results showed that the styles of (Authoritative and the Excess protection) are correlated positively and statistically significant with a Foreclosure and Moratorium ego
