Abstract EN

The aim of the current study is to reveal the extent to which the university teachers possess the cognitive competencies to construct achievement tests according to the point view of education students.

A questionnaire consisted of (27) items were used to measure the tests construction competencies.

It categorized under four dimensions: item formulation, tests direction, administration and correction.

The study was conducted on a sample of (62) second year educational students.

The results showed that the degree of the teachers' cognitive competencies to construct the tests according to students' opinions is medium.

This indicates that teachers have not mastered preparing, directing, administering and correcting tests skills.

Accordingly, they needs training to develop their competencies in construction tests, reviewing the methods used in the training, and the necessity of establishing an examination cell supervised by specialized teachers on construction of tests.
