Abstract EN

The aim of reseach determine the respondents' knowledge of date palm production at Damietta Governorate, and by conducting a comprehensive inventory of palm growers in the Kafr al-Batekh district in all its agricultural cooperative societies.

The number of palm growers holding 1578 farmers was counted, and a random sample of 10% of the total inclusive of the owners of the Kafr Al-Batekh Association was selected to represent the target research sample.

The data were collected by personal interviewing with interviewees.

The data were processed in percentages, means, standard deviation, simple and multiple correlation coefficients, partial multiple regression coefficient and step-wise and statistical analysis was done using SPSS, version 16.

The main findings of this research revealed that:
- The results showed that 21% of the farmers surveyed have a high degree of knowledge, while about 79% of them came in the categories of low and medium knowledge of the recommendations related to date palm production.

- There is a direct and moral correlation relationship at the 0.01 probability level between achievement motivation, the trend towards agricultural extension variables, and the degree of respondents' knowledge of date palm production.

- The independent variables together explain 21.5% from the variance in the dependent variable ( knowledge of the respondents in the production of date palms).

The more affected independent variables on the dependent variable were: the respondents' age, innovatation, education level, and achievement motivation.
