A journalist is considered to have a noble profession, as he is a witness of the era and a historian of the moment, and he is exposed to dangers while carrying out his work, so most laws guarantee protection for journalists in terms of protecting freedom of opinion and expression, as freedom of the press is an integral part of freedom of opinion and expression, which is a human right It is guaranteed by international conventions, as well as by the constitutions of the countries of the world.

We find that all international humanitarian law documents, including the four Geneva Conventions and the two protocols attached to them, have not been exposed to the legitimacy of journalistic activity.

However, they are based on the principle of freedom of the press contained in many international and internal documents.

In this research, I was exposed to the concept of the journalist and the press in Egyptian, Jordanian and French law.

Then the study showed the legal basis for the protection of journalists, as it was exposed to freedom of opinion and expression as the root of all freedoms, including freedom of journalists
