During the era of Haile Selassie, Muslims in Ethiopia were subjected to the worst types of sectarian persecution in the modern era, such as Christianizing the closure of mosques, demolishing them and converting them into churches, disrespecting the rites of Islam and the customs of Muslims, confiscating their property and lands, and granting them to Christians who are displaced to Muslim territories such as the city of Jimma (Jimma).

And the city of Harar and others; to change the nature of the population distribution, and to eliminate the idea of the existence of purely Islamic regions in Ethiopia, in addition to the injustice of the rulers of the Islamic provinces and their administrative and financial corruption.

Muslims were also deprived of government education in Ethiopia, and their private (private) schools were restricted and curricula were imposed on them that contradict Islamic teachings, and a number of those schools were closed, and Ethiopia prevented the establishment of more of them.
