Abstract EN

This paper aims to clarify two important points: 1- The difference between war πόλεμος and local conflict στάσις, where Plato explains the difference between the two concepts, showing the causes for wars and local conflict in different governments, which necessitates the enactment of just laws, and a just ruler who holds the reins, stressing the existence of military ethics in the conflict between the greeks, so it becomes clear that Plato prefers peace over war.

2- The guardians class, as this class met the greatest care of Plato in establishing his ideal city-state, and this is due to the important role that this class provides in preparing the appropriate rulers for the state, so Plato confirms that the guardian must be a warrior and a philosopher at the same time, and this calls for Paying attention to his education, by excluding myths from schools, prohibiting hearing melodies that are not rough, and paralleling in the education of guardians between military education, and philosophical education.

Also, Plato emphasizes the duties of the guardians towards the state and the citizens and in return the role of the state towards the guardians (warriors), whereby the state maximizes the role that these warriors play.
