Abstract EN

The pragmatics approach has been concerned with studying language in its communicative use through discourses and texts to reveal the intended meanings it contains, the function it performs in view of the context that frames it, and the relationships that arise between the parties to the discourse.

From this standpoint, we try to address the topic of the principles of discourse in search of its manifestations in the Arab rhetorical and literary heritage through the book Al-Bayan Al-Bayan wa Al-Jahiz.

The ancient Arab rhetoricians were keen to codify the rules of communication in a unique manner.

While some Western rules of orthodoxy need to be reconsidered and not be left to launch, rather they must be restricted and codified in accordance with religious values, human constants and sound mental principles.
