Abstract EN

The following study presents a series of problems relating to the Phonetic term, which have led to some kind of disruption and chaos in its use in Arab countries.

Despite developments in the scientific field achieved by translation and Arabization movement, but the conflict and difference between linguists and lexicographers in exploiting these two features has led to the creation of a complete chaos in the terminological field.

In order to elaborate on the problem of the oscillation of the phonetic term, the study aims to look into the main causes and manifestations of this disorder and the problems resulting from it by modeling some of the phonetic terms and the ways in which they are transmitted to Arabic in “the Standard Lexicon of Linguistics” and the” Lexicon of Modern Linguistics”.

The use of literal translation in the transfer of scientific terms enhances the possibility of synonymy, and the difference in the use of term position mechanisms often leads to one of the most common causes of term chaos.
