Among the trends of renewal in the contemporary poem is its reliance on narrative structures, the blending of the aesthetics of poetry with narration, and the openness of the narrative poem to many political, social, emotional, human and existential visions.

The contemporary vertical narrative poem was able to achieve this in addition to preserving the classical form represented in the unity of weight and rhyme, the aesthetics of language and the splendor of artistic formation.

It achieved diversity, artistic overlap and complete harmony between literary genres and various arts, as evidenced by the study of the narrative narrative poem in the poetry of (Ahmed Maarouf Shalabi).
