Abstract EN

The ancient Maghreb, like the various Roman provinces, underwent a diversifies influx of the people as a result of the successive settlement operations carried by the Roman empire, summarized in both internal and external migrations, in order to enjoy the security and stability that the Third Legion brought to the region, or to work with it or even to obtain private agricultural land especially between the second and fifth centuries AD.

In order to know the origins of these arrivals, we studied the surnames (Cognomina) carried by the members of the city of Khemissa, as the latter is considered as a continuation of the various origins of immigrants.

The study will enable us to know the social dynamics of the city of Thubursicu Numidarum and get to know the composition of the arrivals, the aim of this study is to extrapolate the Latin inscriptions and investigate the immigrants to the city of Khemisa through the archaeological data represented in the Latin inscriptions.
