Abstract EN

The study was carried out to study the geographical distribution of desertification characteristics in Al-Aaitha area.

The study showed that variety of desertification caused by soil salinity and waterlogging.

This phenomenon varied temporarily as it reached during 2000 (27.4) km, while in 2018 it decreased to (24.1) km2.

Sand dunes have worsened during the years, reaching 54.1 km 2 in 2000, while rising to 74.1 km 2 due to dry climate conditions such as high temperature, wind speed and dryness, low relative humidity, low rainfall, seasonality and evaporation rates.

The area underneath the vegetation, which represents a manifestation of desertification in Al-Eitha area, where the vegetation shrank during 2000 and 2018.

The area covered by the natural plant during 2000 (20.8) km 2 and reduced to (15.7) km 2 during 2018.
