Since the beginning of the 19th century in northern Algeria, and like what exists in Europe, the research on megalithic and para-megalithic burials has unanimously recognized that their dating goes back to the protohistoric period, despite the historicity of a large number of funerary items found inside the graves, as well as the extraction techniques and the cut of the rocks used in the construction of the graves.

We will support the historicity of this type of megalithic tombs with a series of sources, archaeological artefacts, epigraphic texts, and architectural elements near and inside some funerary monuments such as dolmens, bazinas and tumuli.
