Abstract EN

The study aims at revealing the reality of Special Education and its problems in North Darfur State- Sudan, providing a prospective vision for it.

The researcher has followed the descriptive methodology in conducting the study.

The researcher designed an interview to survey the attitudes of those who are responsible of special education in the state.

The researcher also relied on data issued from the Special Education Office in North Darfur State, which includes statistics of the disabled and the rampant types of disabilities in the state.

The study revealed the following results:  There is no periodical survey for data collection about the disabled in North Darfur State.

 The educational environment for the disabled is not conducive regarding premises, equipment, and educational aids.

3  The official responsibility towards the disabled is solely confined to payment of teachers' and supervisors' salaries.

 There is an acute shortage of qualified and trained cadre who supervise the activities carried out by the disabled.

 Lack of means of transportation to be used by the special education administration in following up supervision.
