The present paper attempts to uncover cultural criticism and its application to the play (Akhenaten and Nefertiti) by Ali Ahmad Bā Kathīr.

In fact, this study is a broad and complex one due to its numerous approaches and methods.

his choice of historical heritage-especially the Pharaonic-in the play was not a chance choice, but rather a deliberate choice by which various goals were achieved: political, social, intellectual, and artistic.

it also turns out that the most outstanding kinds of heritage that Bakathir employs in his plays are historical heritage after religious heritage, and what is most represented by historical figures who have been associated with historical events and battles, as well as in archaeological historical places, and the functions of using this type of heritage in his theatrical texts are between return to glories of the past and being proud of them, or trying to connect the past with the present; in an attempt to approach reality to touch on some of the prevailing contemporary issues in it-political, social, religious, or intellectual-or to take history as a means of guidance and direction for what we must do, imitating that history with everything in it.

he summoned the myth of (Akhenaten and Nefertiti) from the Egyptian historical heritage, and used it in accordance with his thought and belief.

because he believes that the myth carries powerful meanings and symbols, issues that are still present, and lessons that deserve to be re-contemplated and learned from them.
